The children had a fantastic afternoon at forest school today and we even had the sunshine! The children enjoyed learning about the environment around them as well as looking at different minibeasts and habitats. We also looked at mark making with natural materials and resources. This included bark rubbing where the children enjoyed exploring different barks and investigating what different prints they could achieve.

The children also got their hands dirty and carried out a little bit of gardening!

3D shapes!

This week we have been learning all about 3D shapes and their properties. The children have enjoyed searching for 3D shapes around the school and recording their findings on iPads. We have also been working hard to secure some of our trickier 2D shapes that focus on; hexagons, pentagons and octagons.

Spring and the Secret Garden!

This week we have started to look at Spring as part of our new topic ‘What can you see.’ The children have been very excited about the transformation of the role play area which is now Venus classes very own Secret Garden! We will begin to look at the change in seasons as well as changes to the weather and environment. We are sure the children will enjoy this topic and particularly their new role play!

World Book Day!

The children finally managed to celebrate World Book Day yesterday after it being postponed due to the snow. They all looked fantastic in their costumes and we would like to thank you for the efforts you made with their costumes. Henry was selected by the staff as the best dressed boy in Key Stage One and Ava and Rocco also won an award for their super effort! We had lots of fun and we also enjoyed hearing stories from our friends in Earth.
